| Finally get done with Series 7. I got an 85! Booyah, proudest 85 I've ever gotten in my life. They gave me a little statistic print out at the end and the nat'l avg is 73 and only 66% of the people pass the exam, which is 70. Makes me feel pretty good you know. All that painful studying finally paid off. The computer can calculate your score within 10 seconds and it's probably the longest 10 seconds of my life... I actually crossed my fingers and put them over my eyes because I couldn't bare to see it. I just slowly count to ten. Whew... now life can go back to normal. I'm gonna go read, for fun, this time. Listen to music, especially those that will be playing at Lollapalooza. Watch my DVDs. Scrubs and Entourage, what! I watched Freedom Writers this morning. It's actually quite good for an MTV Films production. Oh, you don't know what I'm talking about? C'mon MTV is the same production company that brought you Crossroads (why Britney, why?), Aeon Flux, The Longest Yard (Sorry Sowa, I know your boy Sandler is in it but that movie was crap), The Fighting Temptations, All You've Got, Get Rich or Die Tryin', and Pootie Tang. Pretty much every other movie they do they try to relate to the contemporary teenage crowd. Case in point: Varsity Blues, Orange County, The Perfect Score, Election (w/ pre-famous blonde Reese). Now for some reason, maybe this is purely coincidental, but the ones they produce related to ethnic topics are actually pretty decent. And it's not just me, the movie critics agree as well. A lot of them were kind of a far reach and you can tell from the movie that instead of being inspirational it came across as a little cheesy. You see the trailer and you get it, yeah, another one of those ghetto boys can survive stories (Save the Last Dance, Hustle & Flow, Coach Carter). I was afraid that Freedom Writers was going to turn out to be another example. It actually reminds me of Teach for America and Rich Reddick quite a bit. I wonder how many people that are doing TFA has seen it. I think I might go pick up a copy of Diary of Anne Frank today. We actually went to the place she hid in Amsterdam. It was quite touching. Yeah, I'm sorry to say I haven't read it. But I will. Soon. I was looking at the line up for Lollapalooza and it's funny, a lot of the bands are the same ones that played at Coachella or will be playing at Ausitn City Limit. Is there some kind of behind the scene connection in that the people organizing these music festivals all have like the same records or it just happen that these bands are he ones live music fans like and they're Indie so they're trying to get their names out there? |
